Our Valentine's Day Party will be Tuesday during lunch. This day is also the day of Jump Rope for Heart. We decided to have Subway sandwiches for our party because they are a sponsor of Jump Rope for Heart. We will also have chips, a dessert, and sodas. We will be combining our party with the other class.

Planets

Here is some information that might help on creating posters. Your child can include any facts they find interesting about the planet on their poster. Pictures on the poster may be drawn or printed out. Last year several students created 3-D models of their planet by cutting a foam ball in half and attaching to the poster. Be as creative as you like with these. Students will be presenting their poster and facts to the class. Go to Google and type in sciencekids.co.nv to find another helpful website.

Field Trip

We are going to the McWane Center in Birmingham on Thursday, March 8. We will be visiting the museum and seeing an IMAX movie. Cost is $47 for students and parents. This money covers admission, lunch, and charter bus. We can only take 10 parents total. All 5 spots for our class have been filled. If you would like, I will put names on a waiting list in case someone is unable to go.
Please remember that siblings are not allowed on field trips. Thanks!

It is very important that you study the fact families as we learn them.

Jace, Jayden, and Brady need to send shorts, a white t-shirt, and black socks to change into tomorrow. Kase and Anna Claire need to send their green sweatshirts. Christmas Play Information

We have been practicing for the play and everyone is doing a great job. I sent notes home several weeks ago about each child's part and what to wear. Several are confused about what to wear so I am listing each child's part and attire below.
Jace, Jayden, and Brady -Kings- We have these costumes. Please send shorts and a t-shirt for them to wear under the robe and a pair of dark socks.
Dee- solo and speaker- Christmas clothes. Wear to school.
Ella Claire and Caleb- speaker- Christmas clothes. Wear to school.
Kase- Letter S- green sweatshirt or turtle neck. Wear to school.
Anna Claire- Letter A- green sweatshirt or turtle neck. Wear to school.
Ally and Abbi-Kay- card readers- Christmas clothes. Wear to school.
Will- Elf- We are purchasing this costume.
Kristen- Caroler-Christmas clothes, knitted scarf, hat, and gloves- earmuffs can be used instead of or with hat. Wear clothes, bring hats, etc.

*****If you have extra Christmas clothes that will not be worn for the play, please wear them to school on Monday for our rehearsal/performance for K-4 through 4th grades.

Patriot Marketplace

This year’s Patriot Marketplace will be December 1st from 11:00am to 4:00pm and December 2nd from 8:00am to 12noon. As always, a great number of vendors will be at school so you may shop. The PTO will also have a booth for students to shop for family Christmas gifts instead of hosting a second Christmas Store later in December.

The PTO is sponsoring themed gift baskets to be a part of the silent auction. By November 29th, we are asking each student to bring an item (no matter how small or large) to add to the grade level assigned basket. The items will be arranged into several baskets and on display for auction throughout the holiday market. We thank you in advance for your support to this new fund raiser.

We are excited that Edline is ready for parents to create accounts so that they will be able to access grades on-line. Training instructions and authorization codes came home in the report cards on Friday. Parents are invited to participate in any of the three training sessions, if needed. The training sessions are scheduled for Thursday, October 20th at 7:30am or 12:00 in the Learning Lab and Tuesday, October 25th at 5:30pm in the High School Computer Lab. Field Trip T-Shirts

PARENTS: please check your tie-dyed field trip t-shirts to make sure they are not defective. What to look for: cracking of design, fading of colors, ink coming completely off. If you have any of these problems please return the shirt. Please put the shirt in a bag with a note that has the child's name and homeroom teacher. The bags need to dropped off in the office with Mrs. Trecy. Please don't hesitate to send your DEFECTIVE shirt back. The PTO wants you to be satisfied with your purchase and we will gladly replace the shirt for you. Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this issue.

AR HomeConnect

Please register for AR HomeConnect if you have not done so already. I show that only 6 are registered. This is a very valuable tool in helping you track your child's progress each 9 weeks. There is a link under Great Websites for you to access HomeConnect. You can customize it to send you emails every time your child takes a test. Once you log in you will see a tab that says email setup in the top right corner. You can view your child's bookshelf to see books they have already tested on. It would greatly help me if you are familiar with books they have tested on previously. That way if they happen to bring one of these books home we can catch it before they have wasted a week reading it and not be able to test.
